Can we bathe them everyday if our cats move around a lot in the neighbourhood? You know, looking for his mate... If we don't bathe him too often will he get infected with flea or others when he mate with other female cats?

the average cat should only be bathed approx. 3 times a year. Your male cat won't smell bad, if you neuter him. Firstly, neutering helps to control feline population. Secondly, male cats urine smells very bad, as they give off a scent to attract their female counter parts. Neutering your cat would be a very smart choice. Cats have special saliva which keeps their fur very clean. Most bacterias cannot survive if a cat is in good shape and bathes himself regularly. Also, if you bathe your cat everyday, or even weekly, you can possibly dry out his skin, and cause medical problems in the future. Bathing a cat is a very hard thing to do. They generally do not like water, and will scratch or possibly bite you. Make sure also to use a proper shampoo made specifically for cats or kittens...or use sunlight dish soap which is also very good for their coat. As for fleas/worms infecting your cat. YOu can buy advantage or revolution which goes on the back of your cats neck, killing fleas and worms, and entering through skin cells into the body to kill off the eggs of fleas/mites/worms.

You don't need to bathe your cat that often. Most cats keep themselves very clean. For fleas get a flea collar. You can also get things like advantage (or equivilant) that you can put on the cat to help keep the fleas away. Trust me bathing a cat is not an easy thing to do. You should also see about getting him nuetered. That way he won't be chasing out after the other cats. He might still go outside but not for the same reasons. There are enough cats in this world right now that need homes with out adding to it. I would suggest if you are going to bathe the cat to do it at most once a month. They do usually clean themselves very well so it's not as neccessary like it is with a dog.

I bathe my cat about every 4 months and treat him with frontline for fleas and ticks, he washes himself for hours a day and keeps himself clean. I also take him for regular blood tests and checks every 6 months.

I have a female cat name Schumach because my daughter is a fan of Michael Schumacker. I bath her once a month but she hates bathing, it's not an easy task for me...she keeps struggling...meow..meow
