Who Should Pay The Tab or Do You Prefer The Dutch Method?

This is to resolve once and for all that awkwardness that always happen when you go out on a date.

Do you respect the dutch system when on dates?
I mean if a date was to ask you drectly to pay half of the tab, as oppose to him or her covering the whole thing, how would you feel about that?

I really don't mind paying half or paying the whole thing. I think it should be clarified before going out. It is a bit awkward when you are out on the date and then wondering who is going to pay. Basically, I figure if I do the inviting, I am doing the paying too.

If I invited someone out for dinner, I would expect to pay the whole tab. If someone invites me out, I would expect them to pay.
If we just meet up on a whim, then go dutch.
