how long should it take before a couple ties the knot or get married?

my bf is always asking me to get married. i don't know if he's kidding or not. but i often laugh and take it as a joke. i was thinking that if i would take it seriously i might trap myself into something that i'm not sure if im already ready to get myself into. so how do you think a couple should wait before they take it to the next level?

I think you should know first everything about your partner and give atleast 6 months for knowing him, if you think you can accept everything about him and make sure you are on the right age such as 20 and above and you know you can handle the responsibility of having a family then it is the right time to get married .
