if you are selling on ebay please very careful. if u get a request to close ur auction. dont do it. i have gotten 2 emails from people asking me to close my auction and they would pay extra for mt to this so they could buy it. the product will then be shipped to nigeria. they will send u an email from paypal, etc. saying to ship now funds are available once u submit a tracking number. i called to verify funds and the transaction id is not valid. so please be very careful. this is happening with ebay and amazon.com

This happend to me four times in the month of December. It was always with my electronics and never with my cheaper items. I almost fell for it but then started investigating things on my own and found that it was more than likely a scam. I even emailed them and told them that they were trying to scam the wrong person and they got real nasty with me and said that they were going to turn me into ebay. They did not have to do that as I had already turned them in to ebay.

That's why you should only deal through ebay. You should have known this was a scam. They wouldn't have paid more just to buy it off the site. They would have just paid the smaller amount on ebay. I really suggest only selling through some online site, and make sure you go with buyers or sellers that have been on ebay longer and have a rep.

I think if I got an email like that I would tell the. Thank you for your interest in my item. Unfortunatly I will not be ending it but if you wish to make a bid them please do so. You might even get it for less then what you are offering me right now. Good luck.
That way if they were for real they could place a bid, if they were scammers then I wouldn't have to worry about it.

i never close auctions early. i figure they can place a bid just like every other person. I deal with nigeria scams all the time because i am involved in penpalling. I swear every person who writes to me nigeria, ghana, is my long lost soul mate. *rolls eyes*

Thanks for telling us about this i had exactly the same thing as what you did and i did what you did as well and contacted ebay and asked about the emails as i know for a fact that paypal never contact you via email unless it is a receipt or something like that.

Thanks for the heads up, we need to know about the people that are not worth our time. We try to be honest and for folks to try a trick on us is plain unacceptable. I would never end an auction for anyone! Hopefully you reported them to Ebay and let them handle them. They have always been good about phishers and fake emails. Thanks for this information!!

Check on the eBay Question & Answer board, on there you will find a locked thread on how to deal with Nigerian scammers. Basically, if you get any messages asking for items to be sent to Nigeria, report them as soon as possible hun
