in life you can't be too optimistic. i am an active pessimist. by active pessimist i intend to mean that i think of probable adverse outcomes for my choices/decisions, bounded by the boundaries of reality (pessimist) and that i actively seek/create solutions to preempt such adverse events (active). if we are to become too optimistic, we may tend to fail to create backup plans or preempt probable setbacks. also, we may tend to fail to see reality as it is.
