Why do MEN try to take over everything

Why do men try to control us women. Ive been in a lot of relation ships in my life and it seemed like every guy i dated was a compulsive lier or a conrol freek or a women beeter and ,im still with someone who trys 2 conrol me he takes my bank card and says well you dont work that there is no reson why you should have it because any money that i get he has 2 take out and pay the rent or whatever but i allways end up with it back in my poket. He even trys 2 tell me who i can & can't hang out with and we start fightig over this i always win but thats besides the point why do men act this way? is it low self asteam or having power,athority or what?
