I don't mean to sound disrespectful -- this is a question I meant to ask in ASL class, but I forgot to and now, the course is over . . . But I've been wondering and wondering! How do people who are completely deaf wake up on timE!! Themselves!

It's actually a good question! I had a friend who lost her hearing as a result of medications that she received when she was critically ill. She had an alarm clock that went off with an extremely bright strobe light that flashed in her eyes. There is no way that anyone could ever sleep through that. I often teased her that I was also going to get one, because I often sleep through my alarm clock.

I forgot about this, also- at first she had an alarm called a "shake awake" that vibrated, but it didn't work for her.

Probably some sort of buzzer. I'm not deaf, but I use my cell phone as an alarm clock. Sometimes I keep it on vibrant so that I could hear it buzzing; I just feel it.
