What do you think about Jules Verne? Was he a good science man or a good writer?

I have read all the writings of Jules Verne. He is also a favourite writer of mine. What I felt after reading this stories is this man had an imaginative power that only a very few possess, despite of his imaginativeness, his thinkings were not at all illogical, they seem very scientific in their approach. There were his greatness.
I read somewhere that Jules tried to escape from home in a ship in search of an adventure in his very young age. But, he was caught by his father and was beaten and made to do the promise to never think of it again. So, I feel, his writings were a way to release the adventurer inside him to thrilling voyages.
No doubt he was very good in science and a terrific writer who make you believe and live in his ideas when you read them. Hat's off to him.
