Tips on using chopsticks!

I'm posting this because of a different thread on the subject, already posted here: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/619585.aspx I'm not very good at using chopsticks, unfortunately. Rice, for instance, when you're finishing eating all the rice, the grains kind of fall appart and it's difficult to eat them (while at first, asian rice tends to stick, making it easier to eat with chopsticks). Some dishes require you to split the food bits in two using just the chopsticks. I can never do this! The chopstick will most likely fly out of my hand! (LOL) Do you have tips on using chopsticks that you can give me? I want to be able to go eat sushi and other asian foods without feeling self-conscious! :D

I can handle a chopstick fairly well but I sure would not know how to explain. I will be watching this post for some good tips. One can never know enough about the art of eating with chopsticks.

i can't tell you much . i am fair with them but not super perfect, i do know that part of the right way is to leave the bottom one rigidly on the thumb and move the top one only , letting it do all the work. at least that is what i was told a long time ago.

Yes, that part is tricky. It isn't easy to get the hang of eating with chopsticks. The fork's much better, IMO :D

I love chinese food, and I don't like to eat it without chopsticks. It's all part of the experience. When I'm eating rice, and you'll notice if you go to an authentic restaurant that they give you rice in a seperate bowl, you should lift the rice closer to you and grasp it while it's hot. It's a little bit stickier while it's hot so you can get bigger bites without it falling apart.

Maybe that's part of the problem, I like to take smaller bites (LOL). Same with noodles, you're supposed to eat them while they'r super hot, but I don't like scalding noodles!

i wont be much of hekp to you. its not that i dont know how to use chopstick cause i know how. but i dont know what tip to give you. i think its in the way you hold them. for me, i hold them as if my fingers are poised for writing. its hard to explain in here, its easier to show.
