It seems today that it is mandatory for all teen girls to be prescribes birth control pills as soon as they get their period. Most often the reason given is to "regulate" periods or relieve painful cramping. Is it possible that we are making a huge mistake? Perhaps when the body is not given the oppertunity to regulate itself or balance its own hormones in this early phase we create a much greater problem in the long run. What do you think?

Birth control pills have been on the market now for about 30 years here in the US. Although there are some health concerns that should be weighed out before deciding if it's best for you or your daughter; birth control pills do not cause infertility. There are even a couple of conditions that birth control pills are thought to minimize your risk.

I've not heard anything on this topic but I have thought about it - I was started on BCP when I was 14 due to painful menstrual cycles to the point that i would miss school and have to lay in bed .. At that time I never wondered about long term effects but I do sometimes wonder about them now .. Especially things like the shot, we know it has caused some women to not be able to conceive for long periods of time after ending it - i wonder what the pill will cause later down the road .. hmm

yeah i agree with you later on it will lead to infertility or various other complication aswell. it also lead to osteoposis as well... artifical hormones has many side efects for example hair loss, weight loss or weight gain, appetite loss or gain in it, pains in joints, severe cramps in abdominal region and nausea or headaches. this is really is a big mistake...
