I'm asking because there isn't absolutely ANYTHING I really like on television in my country. I have cable access and it's all boring, all the channels have dull programming. There was a comedy channel on cable that I liked, but they took it out of the air to see if people would adhere to one of the premium channels (yeah, right! I got your premium right here! :p). Sometimes when I'm not doing anything I'll watch maybe some random movie or show. But there isn't anything that makes me drop whatever I'm doing to watch it.
What are some interesting/fun TV shows where you live?

Supernatural. This has everything in it - paranormal, horror, mystery, drama, a little comedy.
The show follows brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, who travle across the USA in a black 1967 Chevy Impala investigating and combatting paranormal events and unexplained occurences, many of them based on American urban legends and folklore as well as classic supernatural creatures such as vampires and ghost.

I think Supernatural could be a better show. Sometimes it's just corny. The whole main plot with the father, it just doesn't stick. But it could be a really great show, if they took it a step further. It could be the new X-Files or the new Twilight Zone. Sadly, parts of the show are just very half-assed. It's not a bad show, but it could be much better.

I have a few favorites, but they're spread across the year. Right now, "Lost," "24" and "My Name is Earl" are my top favorites.
I love the mystery of "Lost," very X-Filesish. Plus, it's the best ensemble-cast drama since HBO's "Oz" (which, along with X-Files, is my all-time favorite TV series).
I find American sitcoms to be the lowest form of entertainment there is, but "Earl" is a rare exception. It's probably because it should be called a charcom: comedy based on characterization rather than situations. The characters are excellently written and acted. Plus, it's actually funny. What a concept for a comedy. ;)
"24" is just a big ol' rollercoaster ride, from first ep. to last, and that's what I love about it. (Also, when I'm having a bad day, I just think to myself, "At least I'm not having the kind of bad day Jack Bauer is," and I feel better.) :)
But then May comes, and that's the end of "Lost" and "24." (At least repeats of XF and Oz help kill TV boredom.)
A show I love that I don't consider a guilty pleasure but other ppl probably think it should that is "Ghost Hunters." It's on at various times of the year, it's schedule being totally subject to the Sci-Fi programmer's whims.
There isn't anything on until July and my biggest guilty pleasure. Yes, I admit it. I do watch ... "Big Brother." There! I've said it out loud! Whew! I feel so much better! :)
But then September will come and "BB" will go, and I'll probably be left with a month of TV viewing to kill until my favorite first-run series "Dexter" on Showtime. This will be its second season, and Showtime as of yet hasn't given a definite release date, so I'm assuming it'll return in October, since its first season started last October.
Along the way, I watch "filler" shows like "Survivor," "The Real World" various series on cable ("Iconoclasts" and "Ladettes to Ladies" on Sundance Channel and Dinner For Five" on IFC being three such faves). I also enjoyed Alton Brown's "Good Eats." I check out DIY, HGTV, Bravo, Sundance, IFC, TLC, and the Food, History and Biography channels when I'm bored.

Wow, you watch a lot of tv :D
I've been watching more episodes of My Name Is Earl lately, but I still don't drop what I'm doing to see the show. I don't know about "charcoms", hehe, there doesn't seem to be any difference in that series and some other sitcom, I mean, the whole list creates situational moments, if you miss several episodes, you'll still be able to follow the plot... other sitcoms also have character development. Anyway, about 24, I must be the only person on earth who dislikes it! I dunno, it's just too "american", with the bad guys and the good guys and the terrorists, and everything is plain black and plain white... I like my world with "in betweens" :)
BB here was a huuuuge hit, I hated that show. I hate most reality shows. All the people in the house were ignorant, stupid and/or prejudiced. If I wanted to watch hours of that, I'd just tune in to real life :P

I love watching comedians with the kids. I also love watching the law and orders with my husband. We settle in for the night and just watch the law and order it's like our own little date at night.

The two shows I really hate to miss are The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Fortunately they are repeated several times during the day, so I can usually get them. If it were not for the fake news, I would watch no news at all.
A show I recently discovered on the discovery channel is How It's Made. They show different things being manufactured, or sometimes hand made. In the same show they might feature ballet slippers, ball point pens and fiberglass boats.
The best comedy on now is My Name is Earl. It also gives a good look at the way America lives away from the big city, although most of us are more law abiding.
For forensic entertainment, nothing beats the real thing, Dr G, medical examiner. I love the matter of fact way she will discuss the pus in someone's pancreas.
I used to see Miss Marple, Poirot and Sherlock Holmes on A&E, but they moved all of those to Biography, a channel I can't get.

They only air The Daily Show over here :(
No Colbert report. But I don't watch it all the time, if it's on I'll watch it, if not, not. Ever since the Crossfire appearance, Jon Stewart's not as amusing, somehow. But at least they changed that drab grey table slab in favor of a more natural-looking one (is it granite? ;). When they changed the set, I couldn't look at the screen, it was so distracting!
They also air My Name is Earl here, it's an OK show. That How it's Made show sounds interesting. Don't think I've ever heard of Dr. G though? I think I have the Biography channel, but I never watch it. The only thing I've watched on that channel was Freddie Mercury's bio, one time. Not sure if they're airing sleuth shows. But they air some oldies on TCM, every now and again.

That's one of the things I always wanted to know, if those people being interviewed on The Daily Show were in on the joke or not. I mean, some of them sit so patiently before the most stupid questions, I always thought it was set up!
So Dr.G doesn't have any of the intrigue and people busting into places and shouting "drop it!"? I could watch that :)

When George W was re-elected I was stunned and seriously depressed over it. It really helped to have the Daily Show to ridicule the administration. Some features of the show I like better than others. I think sometimes they go too far when they are speaking directly to people who don't know if they are serious. Some of the "reporters" can be really insulting to their victims.
Discovery's How It's Made I think really sounds boring, but it is fascinating to watch.
Dr G is on Discovery Health. She is a real medical examiner and they show her at work with details blurred out. They also use actors for re-enactments and to show the condition of the body.

My two favorite shows on tv right now (I live in the US) are Scrubs and Heroes. I have lots of favorites, but these are my top two. Scrubs is a sitcom about doctors and I just think this is one of the funniest shows ever. Heroes is a new Drama that is on, it is literally about superheroes and I just love the story line, I look forward to watching both of these shows new each week. :)

I am really hooked on Ugly Betty and Survivor. Besides that I not a big tv watcher. Even with satellite, I must say that the choices are not all they are made out to be. I find myself drawn to the odd movie or some old sitcom when I do sit and watch for a while.

My favorite tv show of all time'd have to be Carnivale..but that's been canceled for awhile, so..right now it's probably Supernatural, since it's got my intrest the most recently ^_^
I don't have cable though..so I don't really have a broad range of shs to pick from..they took the comedy channel off??? o_o Noo!! I liked that channel! It was one of the first channels I checked whenever I had the fortune to get to go to a hotel.

I've only watched some episodes of Carnivale, some of them are good, others a little goofy. I like the one where one of the circus girls ends up stuck on that ghost town for all eternity, having to service all the ghosts there, Samson sees her at the window, then the ghost-man puts her arm around her neck and carries her into the darkness... oooo... creepy! :o

I like to watch House, The Simpsons, Lost, Beauty and the Dorks 2, Supernatural, Smallville, Project Runway, Trading Spouses, Super Nanny, and What not to wear. Those are awesome shows to watch. I'd drop everything to watch smallville, supernatural-if it's an episode I haven't watched. I adore The Simpsons, and project runway. What not to wear is fun to watch. Howeve Beauty and the Dorks 2 I don't sweat over. LOST is just awesome, but I can't ever catch it-so I'm going to buy all the seasons for that one and House plus the Simpsons. I like family guy too. Believe it or not-I don't watch that much tv. What you see above is all I watch except maybe What I like about you-and an occassional movie on HBO. I'm in the USA by the way.-silveysim
P.SYour better off without TV-just don't get out of contact too much with TV-digital divide. Look it up. But life's too good to waste-you have fun with what ever tickles your fancy.

I am watching DVDs I just got of Jeeves and Wooster with Steven Fry and Hugh Laurie. They are classic. And I loved the Black Adder series, they are on my to-buy list.

I never actually bought the Blackadder tapes or the dvd's, because they've aired so many times on tv, I actually know the lines by heart:D
- Tell me, Brother Baldrick, exactly what *did* God do to the Sodomites?
- I don't know, My Lord, but I can't imagine it was worse than what they used to do to each other.

I liked the first episodes of Grey's Anatomy, even though I'm not a fan of hospital shows... it's always like, they have an emmergency and crazy, impossible things go wrong. It's preposterous! Grey's Anatomy seemed to be different, like a cross between ER and Scrubs. But then it kind of slipped away, plot-wise.

I watch House M.D. and I am waiting for Prison Break's new season. I am fascinated and entertained by House. He is a cool doctor. I think people will really be serious about their health if doctors are like House who is not stiff. He's naughty but compassionate too. Well with Michael in Prison Break, what can I say?... aside from the movie like plot of the show, the lead star is a very good actor.

I don't really watch a lot of TV anymore, but I definitely have a few favorite shows. The USA network is my favorite channel with awesome shows like Law and Order (SVU is the best), House, Monk, Psych, and plenty of movies. Gilmore Girls on ABC Family is great too. Then there are other shows like Friends, the Simpsons, Family Guy, Scrubs, etc.

Hi! There is a new show on the ABC network called In Case of Emergency. It is fresh, funny, and unpredictable. I think it's the best new show to come along in ages. I love, love, love it! :-)

I like Bones, which is based around cases of a real forensic anthropologist. But my favorite show is not a comedy series or a drama series, such as Bones. It's Dirty Jobs which comes on the Discovery Channel. It't a riot and it makes you have a lot of respect for people who do the thankless jobs.
