Some years ago I installed Red Hat 7.0, few months ago I installed and used Fedora Core 6... Linux is going to be great... its graphical user interface looks better than Windows...

I am using Mandrake 2006 now. I have used many ditributions over the past years, including: Red Hat 5.1, OpenLinux (the worst of all), Mandrake, Kubuntu, DSL... Ubuntu is the best distro for Linux starters. Linspire seems to be a good distro too, though it is not free. I agree that the GUI that comes with Linux (KDE) is superior to that of Windows XP (I don't know about Vista).

I currently use Mandriva 2006 distribution. I like it and it is quite easy to use, so I suggest it to the beginners. The installation is very fast, you can install it in about 20 minutes. However there isn't a best Linux distribution, there are many distributions and everyone is suitable for a particular kind of users.

Ubuntu 6.10 "Edgy Eft". In my opinion, it's the best done linux distro for the general public, and the only one that can compete with Microsoft Windows or Apple OS X
