Today my husband spotted a type of ice cream that he thought would interest me, so we got it. It's called "Mayan Chocolate", it's made by Haagen-Dazs, and I'm in love.
I'm known for (and often picked on for) putting chile powder and cinnamon in my hot chocolate. This tastes like the same thing in ice cream form, and I had to put it away after a few bites or I would have eaten the whole container right away!
Anyone else had this kind of ice cream? And has anyone ever instantly had a new flavor become their favorite?

I am glad for you.I love ice cream.Unfortunately i have "sensitive teeth"..bleah.I cannot eat anything too cold or too hot.I am afraid that i can not share the feeling of familiarity with you on this one.:(
PS.but i did eat some kind of caramel-bitter chocolate-cinnamon (don't recall the name of that brand now) that made me think "this is HEAVEN!" :)

I haven't had that, nor would I try it b/c chile powder in ice cream doesn't sound like my kind of thing.
However, I totally get what you are saiyng. I've often tried something and fell in love with it. I remember trying lactose-free ice cream b/c my fiance got a stomach ache with milk sometimes. I had it once and was like "this is great!" and everytime for months I bought it again and again.
I find I get addicted to a favorite flavor of food and want it daily, then suddenly I'm done with it. My mom and I had fruit and yogurt smoothies every other day for 6 months...then one day I just got over it.

According to the ingredients, the ice cream doesn't actually have chile powder in it. *laughs* That's just how I make my hot chocolate. But it does taste the same, probably because it has both cinnamon and extra cinnamon extract. It's kind of spicy, but not "my mouth is on fire".
Hmmm... I've never had lactose-free ice cream. That's interesting!
You know, I've done that a lot with foods too. I'll eat something every day, just be obsessed with it, and then one day it will just be old to me. WHen I was in high school it was hash browns and grilled cheese that I ate almost every day, and then one day I made it, looked down, and just couldn't eat it.

wow! tricky title! but really nice discussion. you got me there lecanis!
anyway, i haven't tried the one you mentioned. but i doubt we have that flavor here in the philippines.
the ice cream flavor i really got hooked for years is the cookies and cream flavor. i love the crispy cookies in it plus the chocolate chips, too. i like the combination of the cream and the chocolate cookies. but i do love the plain vanilla ice cream, too especially when i am in the mood in making my own flavor. i do sometimes add peanuts in it, marshmallows and top it with too much chocolate syrup. i like it so much.

Good for you, but I doubt this would be my kind of thing -- I'm someone who believes my ice-cream should be sweet, and chocolate should be, well -- chocolately lol!
Having said that, I suppose it is good to try new things...
Not sure I'm that brave though...

I'll be looking for that flavor, it sounds interesting. Ice cream is one of my favorite dessert foods and I'm particularly partial to Ben & Jerry's ice cream but I like some of the Haagen-Dazs flavors too. As far as a flavor that became my instant favorite...I think it would have to be Phish Food by Ben & Jerry's, I love the little dark chocolate fish in it.

Oh God don't talk to me about ice cream. LOL That is my definite downfall. I love it. I have never tried that kind and not so sure I'd like it. I like stuff with carmel in it more then chocolate. I also like the one Loblaws puts out its called Carmel Cashew. It is good.

Whaa? Chile powder in ice cream!? Woah!!
I love haagen dazs, the tiny little cups they sell. My favorites are run raisin, green tea, and the cookies and creamish one. Aaaah, ice cram. My greatest weakness.
