Working during the graveyard shift, my period became so irregular that I had to ask prescription from my OB for a menstruation inducing pill. She recommended Duphaston to me. She also had me tested for any reproductive abnormalities and it was found out that I had PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). This is a condition wherein there are follicles on one or both ovaries.Common signs may include some menstrual problem, excessive body hair, acne and obesity. It is also one cause of infertility in some women. Who else has experienced this or know someone who has?

I have known that I had PCOS for about 8 years. I never had menstrual problems, or excessive body hair or even acne but if I am not strict on myself I become obese. I am constantly dieting and where weight is concerned I tend to always be a little bit overweight. Then there is infertility. I had several different tablets and injections prescribed by my OB but to no avail. I never succeded in getting pregnant and I have now been trying for 9 years. I once had a laser operation to have the small cysts removed and the gyn told me that it will last for 5 years. It did nothing for me.

Sorry to hear that. My bestfriend has the same problem. She's married for almost 2 years now and she has been taking fertility pills for almost a year now but she still has trouble conceiving. Have you tried other specialist?

I'am sorry to hear that from you. This is the first time I have heard of that disease. Does having to work on graveyard shift put u more at risk? How are you feeling now? What does your doctor recommend you of doing? You mentioned that this may cause infetility... having said that, do you already have children?

Well I am better. I was told by my OB that I will have a difficult time trying to conceive. I might have to take fertility pills. But after more than a year I got pregnant. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy last December. Lack of sleep might be a cause, but there are other factors too like hormonal imbalance and some vices. In my case it was lack of sleep.
