The other day my 6 year old brother asked me the most intersting question. He asked "If God made us then who made God?" I didn't know what to say to him, so I'm asking for your help. For this question there is no right or wrong answer. What do you think? If God made us then who made God? Maybe God has just created from thin air or maybe he doesn't exist. But what would you say to a six year old child that asked you this same question?

I've asked this question before also, I have no idea and no one else ever told me anything more than "he's always been" "he just is" I don't get it how can something just be...?

The Bible says, In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. It doesn't tell us much except that God existed before anything else was made.
It doesn't hurt to admit to a child that you don't know the answer to his questions. I would just say, "There are some things that are hard to understand. God has just always been here. He didn't need anyone to make him." Usually a kid that young will find that a very satisfactory explanation. It is only us older folks that feel that every single thing has to be explained down to the very last detail. :)

I like that answer " He didn't need anyone to make him". I think that admitting that I don't have the exact answer for hos question is one of the hardest things for me to do as an older sister. I guess it's because he looks to me, and I don't want to fail him.

God is not made. God is from everlasting into everlasting. God is spirit. The Word of God is the Holy Bible. If we don't believe this, we should not believe that we exist because we don't know where we came from. You can never explain correctly to a 6-year old child if you don't believe in God and the Holy Bible as the Word of God.
