Smile is an obvious expression that we like something or we are just plain happy. It is really a soothing feeling when we see people smiling, even it not addressed to us. According to Pulse-Scripts of UC Davis Health System, it takes 17 Muscles for us to smile. Smiling is a good way of exercise. It tightens our facial muscles enough for us to prevent wrinkles and aging. Aside from the health benefits that it can give, it also adds beauty to anyone who always wear that. It gives a youthful glow that makes one radiate and get noticed. Personally, I smile when I'm happy. Also when I saw a child's cute face and seems to be so happy. A cute dog also makes me smile. When someone gives me a call to know if I'm fine. When my family is happy; when my boyfriend gives me a hug and a really good kiss. My past happy memories, when it flashback to my mind, also makes me smile. When I meet an old friend in some places also is a smiling factor. So smile, not frown even if times get tough. Just remember, your smile can brighten the world!

Hi fatal_ivory, a lot of things make me smile..when I talk to my family back home, when I hear from old friends, when I see responses to my discussions on myLot, when my friends here care for me and share my joy or sorrow, when I get a best response(lol), when my hubby tells me he loves me, when I see a baby playing innocently in its own world, when I watch movies with kids in it, when I get to watch my favourite shows on tv....well the list is endless. I'm glad that I'm blessed with so many reasons to smile :) Your discussion sure made me smile!

well..I am not that hard a person to make smile. I'm pretty much doing it all the time. as far as laughing? the last time i laughed was when i was watching the Grammy's and i was laughing at the Grammy Moment winner try and dance! That was hilarious! The last thing that i can remember making my day....I don't really know. I guess, maybe...yesterday morning, when i got up to get ready to go to the animal shelter to volunteer, and my dog was looking at me wagging her tail. It was like a little "good morning", and i smiled about that most of the day...;) greetings and happy nice day.

I also have a funny story this morning that made me smile, not only smile but laugh. It's because of my dog. He was lying in the couch. And then, when she knew that I was looking at her, he lie at her back and stretched out his four legs as if standing in her foot upside down while smiling at me. She's so cute in that position, so I decided to take some pictures in my phone. She's like a celebrity who really loves the camera. After I take some pictures, she return to her position and continue to sleep as if nothing had happened. Celebrity instinct I guess, lol.

baby smiling - baby's laughter, smiling, happy.
The one thing that makes me smile is when I see my loved ones happy. What makes them happy makes me glad too. Anyway, there are several kinds of smile, and I would like to share it with you: 1) The "Duchenne smile", is believed to be only produced as an involuntary response to genuine emotion, and is therefore what one could call the "genuine" smile. 2) The "Pan American smile", on the other hand, is the voluntary smile to show politeness; for example, by a flight attendant on the former airline of the same name. Considered "insincere", this type of smile has also been called the "Professional Smile".

Thanks for the info. I wear Duchenne smile when I'm out of work. It is like when I'm with my family and friends. The Pan American smile on the other hand, is more likely I use when I'm in the office communicating with some hard-to-get-along-with client, lol.

What makes me smile: A beautiful day. Flowers blooming and the fragrance that comes from them. My grandchildren coming over. People walking down the street holding hands. The residents where I work smiling at me. Memories of my dad. Sitting outside feeling the breeze blow by me. Talking to a neighbor. Talking to my friends. Listening to a romantic song. Definitely watching either Robbin Williams or Bill Cosby and I could go on and on. I love life and try to make other people just a little bit happier for having known me.

I'm happy that this discussion, in my own way, make you smile. Actualy, little things that come along our way are the things that usually give a smile on our face. It is our reaction to things that we appreciate. Appreciation is a way to describe smiling. Ang I'm sure you have many reasons to wear one. Having a grandchildren is a blessing worth smiling for. I'm smiling because of what you've shared. Happy days!
