Do you call in sick to work a lot when you are depressed? Sometimes when my alarm goes off, and I am so down, I just cannot get out of bed, then I call in sick to work. Sometimes I make up excuses to why I can't come in. Like this morning I called in sick, and said I didn't get enough sleep last night which was a lame excuse, as I did sleep four hours...and then I went back to sleep and slept from 8am to 4pm. What does your boss say about your constant tardiness or lack of showing up to work? Have you had any warnings? and does your boss know about your illness?

I'd say that i've done it once or twice before. But not lately. I don't have any relief right now for my current position at work. It's really hard to get a day off work. So if I were to call in now they would ask for a doctors note. Not nice. I really wish that I could do that some days though. It's hard working full time with three kids to attend to also. I really need more sleep. Yesterday was my day off and I slept from 11am till 3pm. Guess it was my catch up sleep from the weeks work.

I'm sorry. I have done that before as well. I don't do it very often, but honestly most of my sick days that I do take are because of depression and not because I am physically sick. I try to keep it down to 4 a year at the most. Have you condiered medication? I'm on prozac and finally seeing light in my life again.

no-I don't call off work due to depression-I don't have depression. I have called in sick for things like flu,...ect. My boss doesn't say anything to me when I do come into work when i'm feeling better. well nothing negative anyways,She'll ask if i'm feeling better. I haven't had any warnings.

If a person is so depressed that they call in sick to work then it is time to go for a physical examination and discuss with the primary physician the need to obtain professional counseling for the depression. Depression is a very serious matter and it requires treatment just as if the person had a physical illness.

i am already on 450mg of effexor 25mg of seroquel, and i've been seeing my therapist for the past three years. I know it is a very serious matter, however, sometimes even still after all the medicationa nd counceling, you still cannot get out of bed
