Are you the only one that has the recipe for ICE in your house?

Ice Cube Trays - do you know the guarded secret recipe for ice?

LOL... I'm always telling my kids the recipe isn't a deep, dark secret and they CAN fill the ice trays with water when we're out. It seems like I truly am the only one who fills them in this house! And then they say "why do we need an automatic ice cube maker in the fridge?" when I comment that I want one!

Hehehe! I don't have a recipe for ice, but my freezer does! I can't imagine trying to get anyone around here to remember to fill the trays, though. My heart goes out to you!

Stepping up to the podium ~~~ I'm the only one in my household that knows how to make ice-tea. Mind you ice-tea is a staple in our refrigerator all year round. Much like your ice cube dillemia. So, on most days I have at least one pitcher to make and on really bad days, up to 3 pitcher. aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh stop the insanity! I am also the only one who can replace the empty toilet paper in the bathroom. All it requires is dump the empty roll and bend over, reach under the sink and pull out a fresh roll. Hard isn't it? Thanks for allowing me to rant! Good Luck with your ice cubes. Try freezing rubber flies in them and see if they get the hint.

Oh... do NOT get me started on the toilet paper thing! They will actually GET a new roll and place it on the sink as opposed to leaning forward and putting it on the freaking roll!!!!!!! LOL At least we're not alone in our misery!

I used to fill the ice cube trays with water to make ice but now I use the automatic ice cube maker. It took me a while after buying my house, to get the automatic ice cube maker installed but I did it so no need to fill the trays anymore. LOL

I swear sometimes I honestly do feel like I am the only one with the recipe for ice in my household as well. My other half is supposed to fill it up each night because a large majority of the time I will fill it up when he is at work during the day.. And it seems like each night I am the one who ends up having to fill it up instead of my other half doing so. I know that I tend to leave sticky notes or I will remind him at some point in the night to fill up the ice cube trays before he goes to bed.. And he ends up always forgetting.. In which I can understand if it is sometimes, but if it happens all the time.. It's bound to make anyone want to pull there hair out! haha.. I think there is nothing more frustrating than when.. You are wanting a nice cold glass of pop or juice or water & there you go to the freezer.. Open it up & none of the ice cube trays are filled up. Instead they are all empty. It really can make a person angry because then they have to wait until the water has turned in to ice before having a nice cold drink.. I know this has happened to me on several occasions & it just really has become one of my pet peeves when it comes to things around the house that need to be done each night.. A thing I have found to work is.. Filling freezer bags with ice.. So each time the ice is made, I will put the ice in to a freezer bag.. And then put it back in to the freezer. I know if a person keeps on adding to this freezer bag filled with ice it eventually ends up being rather full. And it helps to solve the ice issue for a little while. Though we used to have bags of ice in the freezer & now we have none.. So you really have to keep on top of it. Which can be difficult but it honestly pays off in the end.. At least this is what I have found personally! . . I know that I make these fruit shakes for me & my other half on a regular basis. And these shakes call for ice to help to make them thick. And there have been quite a few times where the ice cube trays haven't been filled up. So it ended up with me being angry because we had to hold off on making these shakes until we had ice all ready to use again. I've honestly started to question if I should buy a bag of ice from the store so that I won't have to go through this anymore.. haha.. Don't get me wrong I don't mind filling up the ice cube trays once in a while.. But I don't feel it should only be my responsibility in thee end. In conclusion.. I know exactly how frustrating it is to have to go through this.. I'm trying to come up with solutions to prevent this from happening so often.. I am hoping that my other half & me can work together so that this doesn't start becoming more & more of a problem. haha. It's nice to come across someone who understands what it is like to go through a situation such as this.. I thought I was the only one who had gone through this quite honestly! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

we don't usually use ice cubes in my house, but sometimes i make smoothies with them! i too am the only one that fills the trays, but i'm usually the only one that uses the ice too! lol. When i had my daughter they had once of those ice machines in the fridge, this one was not very good. the ice would get all jammed up where its supposed to come out if you set it to crushed ice.

LOL, I had to respond, your title just got me ROTFLOL. I can so relate to what your saying. Kids, gotta love'em, but why oh why do we have to repeat ourselves so many times? One day they will catch on though we just have to wait for the light bulb to go off. Good luck here at mylot and thanks for the laugh.

Hi! I buy ice from the store LOL But, I am the only one who knows how to load the dishwasher, wash dirty dishes, clean out the litter box, clean the aquariums, pick up toys, pick up clothes, put food away, shop for groceries, clean the bathroom..... you get the idea! LOL :-) No wonder I'm always tired!

No, your not alone. I can't figure out what the big chore is. It seems that it is awful hard to turn on the water and fill up trays. I think I am also the only one in our house that fills them also.

Yes, this is true. I am the only one who has the recipe. Sigh. Also I am the only one who apparently knows how to put the top back on jars like peanut butter, relish, and mustard. I also am the only one who knows how to wet the cloth to wipe off the kitchen table, stove and countertops. My husband washes dishes. He has lived in this house much much longer than I have. I didn't change anything when I moved in four years ago. All the stuff is in the same cabinets and drawers. He puts away everything except pots, pans, mixing bowls, and plastic containers. They all go in the same place they always have, but he claims even after I show him that he doesn't know for sure where they go. GRRR.

This is always a problem in my house. I have a water cooler for the cold water but whenever anybody wants a mineral water they holler at me to know why there is no ice in the fridge. One would think that I spent my day using up all the ice. I have now purchased plastic cubes filled with water and I keep these in the fridge. Of course, they don't even bother to wash these and put them back into the fridge. I think we are in a no win situation.

LOL--- I am sure I am the only one at WORK-- I go into the freezer there to grab some ice and every ice tray is empty-- Drives me crazy! I always rinse them out and fill them back up.. At home we have a fridge with a ice maker on it-- Its great! Crushed or whole.. So I never need to fill the darn trays... I love our fridge.. It even has water (filtered).. its great!

Yes, I seriously am the only one in the house with the ice recipe too!! One day, my brother stopped by and he filled up the ice trays and I asked him if he wanted to move in!! (lol) I had gum surgery a few years back, and I have a lot of sensitivity in my mouth to cold, so I stopped making the ice, since I don't use it. Guess what?? There is NO ice cube trays in the freezer at all!!!! LOL Cute discussion as always!!! :)

Your discussion gave me a good laugh..hehe thanks. Right now it's just my boyfriend and I, and I've often wondered if he wasn't aware of the simple ice recipe either. I mean, I know some men aren't too aware of what's going on in the kitchen but I thought ice could be looked after. Luckily we don't use that much ice so I only have to "make it" every once in awhile.

lol i like this discussion its about something that is common and i dont think that noone else actually thinked about this but damn i feel like i am the only one refilling the icetrays as well lol to me little things like that can test out your kids responsibility level if they use it and it needs to be refilled to use again then its there responsibility to refill the ice tray
