You know I might be boring, but diapers are WONDERFUL for a baby gift. When I was pregnant with my first child, I wanted all the cute little outfits and the stylish accessories. With my second child, I wanted diapers and wipies! LOL I found out what was important. I can always buy those cute little outfits that they grow out of in 2 weeks...but diapers and wipes are a great thing to have a stock of.
But, a wonderful gift my sister gave me when I had my son was a little baby quilt that had his name embroideried on it. I LOVE that blankie...still have it in his box. It is just adorable. It's blue gingham and white...quilted...so nice.

Is this her first child? I would recommend getting her something that she wants but can't afford. Like for example, my parents bought me a crib.
But if you can't get something that expensive, or want to get her something else, I would recommend getting or even making a special blanket for the baby. Also those build a bear workshops are so cute and you could make one special for the new baby! =)

Yes this is her first child and oh what a spoiled boy he is going to grow up to be! LOL I think she is buying the crib but a car seat is a very needed item to have. I can also sew a cute baby blanket for her too!!!! Thanks for you great suggestions

Definitely something sentimental! How about a nice picture frame for his first picture? There is a very nice book sold at all gift stores and book stores, it is like a baby book, BUT..it is one that the grandmother fills out about herself! It starts with "Here is where I grew up...and she describes that. Then her school, everything about grandma. Then through the years, she fills it out. There is a page that says, "Today you said your first word to grandma..." and the granma fills it out. It is a really, really nice keepsake for the child..so that he/she will always no all about grandma and the special things they did together! I'm sorry that I can't remember the name of the book, but it is sold almost everywhere that nice gifts are sold..and in bookstores. You could get that and fill in the history part and present it at the shower. (You would eventually take it back so that you could continue filling it in) Everyone that has seen it is amazed by it!

I'd have to agree with all the other posters. At my babyshower I got all these wonderful cute little outfits and 20 bajillion little blankets (that didn't fit him more than a couple of months). Some of the things that I really found useful and really liked were a car seat, a crib (my parents got us that), and photo albums. You can never have too many photo albums! My mother made a large blanket for my son that he absolutely adores and won't sleep without so something like that would be good too. I'm sure anything you give your daughter will be very much appreciated!
