I am not rich, and I play a lot. The expenses are clubs, which you buy used for 150-200 dollars. The it,s the membership, it might sound expensive, but if you play 100 times each summer, like me, the it is not that bad. PLay if you like or not. who cares!
But I can promise you it,s very fun after a while. The better you get, the more fun.!

I played it professionally back in college. I won a lot of prizes, medals, money..etc. BUT I just don't seem to get what the hype of golf is? I mean, what's the fun of cutting down a forest to put acres of grass just to use a club to hit a small ball into a hole? I was very surprised when they opened a golf course 10km from my place. The lush forest that was there was now gone thanks to business economics and fat businessmen who don't know the term "exercise."
Golf is just one person saying, "hey, I'm part of the elite!" Even if they really suck at this game.

so you played pro, what was your handicap before you turned pro. I didn,t think college players were playing pro, but as amateurs playing on the school team.
Why all the criticism if you have played pro as you say. It maight be upperclass activity but that is changing now, I hope. It is more for ht eguy nextdoor now, which is a healthy way to go for the game of golf.
And usually the forrests are cut down anyway to make suburbs, malls, parking lots. At least the golf course is pretty, a green lung which animals and birds learn to connect with.
SO i would rather make a golf course instead of building other stuff. Sometimes the best thing would be not building anything at all, because I love the forrest, but the world changes, so there is not really a way to stop it. SO I agree with you there, save the LUSH forrest, but I guess a golfcourse is better than parking lots/houses.
And I agree that too many fat guys who don,t know the term exercise feels like the elite. But hey, that,s their "pathetic" way of feeling good, so why not let them.m hehe

i used to feel the same way but now..well, i'm thinking of trying it out. i've been talking to a friend who's into golf and he's been inviting me to, at least, try it. talking about it a lot, i suddenly feel that i can understand where the challenge is in the game- it's in the consistency of squarely hitting the ball, and the control of power you put into swing..
besides, at 30+ years of age, i don't think i'll still be fit enough to play competitive badminton for another 20 years..might as well try out other sports..

Maybe it would be more fun if the owners brought their dogs with them to the golf course and we could see what happens when the dogs try to chase the balls. Probably kill their putting average, but it would be more fun for me to watch. What do you think? (and yes, I think golf is boring!)
