When I was young, we were taught how to be nice like if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything or simply shut up. We respect the elders, held those doors for women and old people. We didn't snitch on each other or threaten each other with guns or anything that is harmful. We knew how to be respectful. Now it seems as if all we teach kids is how to fight for what they feel and what they are entitled for. They think we owe them something. What do you think?

I think Its peer pressure in the school these days. Whatever your kids friends are doing they feel they have to follow the leader. Alot of parents these days are to busy to pay attention to there kids let alone give them any moral values. The only moral values came from kids when I went to school were that parents were teaching them to hate different religions.

I strongly agree with you that peer pressure counts a lot in molding and shaping the minds of our kids of today as well as the fast pase work of the parents that they were not able to take care and prioritze their child. However, I become interested with what you said that there were parents teaching to hate different religions.... Now that was somethin'.....

I think people need to back off teenagers. Seriously. Why do some adults think they led such perfect, moral lives? And why do you give all kids such a bad name? If you think most kids don't respect their elders or don't do something simple like holding doors, then you're wrong. Go to any college campus and walk in and out of buildings and see how many kids will hold the door for you. I bet most will because I know from experiance that most kids will do something like that for you.
And read the end of your post. You say "all we teach kids...". You see that? "All WE teach kids...". Maybe people should stop blaming kids so much and take a look into the mirror. Maybe it's the influences the kids have around them that shapes them, not some crazy shift in the morals of kids.

I think a major issue with children not having any morals or ethics stems from the fact that their parents are always busy and they're stuck with caregivers that only want the cash and could care less about teaching the child while the parents are working. I'm not saying that a parent has to be home all the time to teach them these things. I just think parents need to work on them more when it comes to teaching them these things, despite their schedules.
