my grandma was diagnosed with a cancer in the ovary and she is already 88 years old. The whole family decided not to let her undergo operation because she might not recover because of her age.....is this the right thing to do? any experience u can share regarding cancer patients?will she recover if she takes hebal medications w/out unsergoing an operation?

To be honest, I would probably advise a family member not to undergo this surgery at the age of 88 also. Ovarian cancer is generally aggressive, and having a complicated surgery at any age is difficult, but at that age it is even more so. Why put her through such a difficult operation when a cure is unlikely? You're right to let her enjoy the time that she has left with her family. The likelihood of a cure with or without surgery is slim, but herbal medications may help her to feel better and to stay stronger for a longer period of time. They certainly will not hurt. I'm sorry to hear of your Grandma's illness; enjoy the time you have with her. She has lived a long life.

thanks so much for your concern.
yes,the doctor said that surgery is the best option for this cancer to disappear.
Maybe i should just research for an effective herbal medicine that can at least prolong my grandma'a life or something that can make the pain less painful.
I dont know right now, we are looking for ways to at least save her or maybe prolong her life.
Thanks so much for ur insights.
