Dirty Smokers

Oh yeah! You can't beat a bit of smoke at half eight in the morning! Not my words, the unheard words of the dirty smokers below my window.
I live (at the moment) in student accomodation on a University campus. I am on the 1st floor and below me is where the cleaners hide all their stuff in a storage room. I opened my window for a bit of fresh air and smell the diSTINKtive smell of cigarette smoke.
I hate this because it is anti-social. I think smoking should be banned everywhere because cigarettes do no good to anybody. People who use them, and those who have to be around them.
On the other hand I think its good that the cleaners are smoking. The effects of smoking daily will leave them with many different illnesses and diseases, allowing them to be cleared off the earth for people who don't have disgusting habits. Smokers must agree with me! They would stop smoking if they wanted to but they don't so they want to die. What are they doing smoking anyway?! I hope they have been allowed a break.
So am I right in thinking that it is out of order to smoke outside my window in the early hours of the morning? or am I just being a bit silly about it?

Hi there. I am going to answer to this discussion as a smoker. In my country of residence, Spain, there's been a law passed which bans smoking in public places and even bars. I think it's too restrictive. However, since you talk about dirty smokers, I have to defend smokers who do not behave like that. When I'm smoking in a public place in which it's not banned, I am always searching for non smokers, in case smoke is going their way so I chnge my place. I'm married wit a non smoker, I smoke at home, yes, in the balcony, outside. I think being clean while smoking depends only on your education. If you have been educated on taking care of what disturbs others, you will try not to do so. If you're not, you probably won't care about somek going to non smoker's faces. But please, please remember, there are clean smokers. Do not judge wrong on every smoker just because we have this bad habit.

Well, actually, that happens almost in every aspect of life. we are always aware of what's wrong, isntead of being happy of what's right.... I guess it's easier...

I totally agree with you since I am not a smoker my self but then again my husband is. He would give you a good argument about this if only he got on here too :) I don't like the smell either and plus the fact that it's harmful for health. If the person wants to die smoking it's their rights but can't they die alone and not bring us non smokers with them? There I said it !
