Mixer taps not working properly

Hello! We recently replaced our bathroom and are still working on it. The original bath and basin taps were 2 individual taps and the new ones are mixers. The mixer taps are not mixing?? There is much more pressure behind the cold water than the hot - how can we fix it?? Thanks for any advice!
