New Zealand crushed Australia by 10 wickets in the first match of the three match ODI series being played in New Zealand.
Australia could make only 148 as Shane Bons rattled the Aussies by taking five wickets. In reply, New Zealand achieved the target with no fuss at all. They made 149 without loosing a single wicket in 27 overs.
This was the biggest defeat Australia has suffered till date.

australia is in real trouble here. brett lee is having injury due to which he might not play in world cup(some says he cant play cricket anymore!!). symonds, ricky ponting, clarke are also facing injuries. this is really bad for australia. todays victory of new zealand will definitely affect australian teeam negatively. now wwe have to see that they get up from the situation or keeps falling to the end!! by the way world cup is just a month away. we will find it soon. hope india will do better in world cup.

Hi nishant, this just goes on to show that inspite of creating an illusion of invincibility, fact is that only a handful of players were time and again creating that illusion and not the entire playing 11 in the australian team.
That it was this apparant aura of invincibility that frightened the other teams when they faced australia, leading to a mental victory for them even before the ball was bowled.
That the other players were merely drawing their strength from legends like mcgrath and warne. Without their influence now, their true vulnerability is revealed for all to see.
The entire cricketing world is watching now with interest. It won't be long before other teams take up the cudgels and beat them to pulp in the world cup, unless they pull up their socks and perform beyond themselves.
The true beneficiary is the neutral cricket lover. For he is going to witness probably the best of world cups this time as there are no clearcut favourites for the cup this time unlike the previous editions. Thanks.

Just one minor flaw in that excellent reply. Mcgrath is still there and he played today as well. He will retire after the World Cup.
Thanks for the response.

what!!! that means this would be their 4th consecutive defeat.. man thats some news.. this would be the real acid test for the m as some of their key players are injured and are not likely to make it to the world cup squad.. seems like sunny days ahead for all the other teams participating in the world cup...
