and you dont have a choice as your stuck sitting beside him inside a bus?....My approach is usually like this...ill talk to him or her like a friend, start a conversation, make him laugh,smile,etc...that way i didnt only get rid of his annoying acts but i also got my self a friend!this was my experience when i was seated beside an ol mam who never stops complaining bout the traffic and the high cost of fare...we ended up discussion the countries economy...a thing that interest me...hahahah!peace!

I think doing the same thing with that person can make him/her realize the effect of their action on others. Yup! Thats the only possible way to tackle these kind of people. They simply don't realize their mistake and are not ready to listen to anyone else. So its better to react the same way with them.

Yes, making anyone closer is easy if you start sharing jokes with them and when both start laughing at something, then it's pretty cool to get close to each other and here i don't understand what annoying things she did to you as you haven't mentioned anything about those annoying acts here isn't it? it seems that you got along well !

the old man was at the top of his lungs complaining bout the traffic and the high fares and all...at time he would murmur and continue talking...its so annoying...luck i had the initiative to start a conversation with him...hehehe then he came occupied talking to me...and i was able to maneuver him to a conversation we are mutually interested in.

Such a good idea. Make lemonade from lemons. Charming is always better too. He may have had that habit and you brought some nicety to his life. I commend you. A positive way to deal with it. If only everyone could have this ability our world would become a better place.

I actually like the way you handled that situation. Some times you can talk to the person who is annoying you. Maybe if you get to know them you can get them to talk about something that is not so annoying. I however, am usually being annoyed by a cashier who is on the phone or talking to another cashier and not doing her job. At this time I usally get a little snippy and ask if I can have her attention for just one minute. My kid also annoys me on occation and just find her work around the house to do. This keeps her busy so she can't bother me for a while.

What will i do is pretend that i was sleeping. If he's really annoying i can sleep. Beside when your in our country if its traffic you can sleep for 2 to 3 hours in the bus. hehehe.

LOL , i know what you talking about.I haven't riden on a bus in years but i get a lot of that in the doctors office or other public places...I usually listen for a while nod ,and get away as soon as i can or the nurse will call you in (in my mind i am saying thank god)Oh thank goodness i don,t have a friend that does this,i guess you just have to be nice and tolerate, sometimes they can get off on subjects i know nothing about...

there are times when i really get annoyed. inside a bus, like years ago when i am on my way to the city to meet my family on the weekend, this guy around 25 of age had been asking me questions. i find him annoying since he's been asking for my number, address, and asks about my personal life. ofcourse, i won't give out my number, address and personal matters about myself. i don't know the guy.
so, what i did was when the bus made a stop, i went to another seat far from him. and i sat with an old lady so i'm sure he'll not follow me on that new seat i've got. and it worked!

That's a great approach. I'm afraid I just sit there and do nothing or try to get away from the person. I do like your idea better.
