My foreign friends often complain about ride taxi drivers in our city. In fact one of my friends quoted "Philippines is a paradise but it has a lot of monsters who drives taxi." The taxi driver asks her a double fee and told her that his meter is not working. She wants to stop but the driver kept driving. I also have lots of encounter with rude taxi drivers.Although there are some taxi who are good but most of them are the worst of all worsts.

If you have rude taxi drivers, we have robbers being taxi drivers. These taxi drivers usually targeting working women on the business areas in Jakarta around finished working hour.
They also usually have partners whom they'll pick up after a targeted passenger has gotten in. That is why if you are a woman in Jakarta having to go home late, you'd better pick up a well-known taxi company or get the taxi by order.

thank you for the reply.that's horrible! Well, in our country, you can't hear this kind of crime-robber taxi drivers. Well, in a connotative meaning, there are lots in here. Those are the taxi drivers who tract a long long instead of the short way to collect more fare often victimizing people who are unknown to the place.Well, I often heard of taxi drivers literally robbed passengers here.

Thanks for the sharing, too... At least I'll know what I will face when one day I get to Manila =)
By the way, just a tips if you want to take a taxi from the airport in Jakarta and you know how to get airport bus, you'd better go to the taxi company counter to order it from there. Or go to the information table, don't just get into a nearby taxi.

Again, thanks for the reply.Additional tips for you. If you don't want to be ripped out by some dishonest taxi drivers, don't forget to check the taxi meter. Some dishonest taxi drivers don't turn on their meter when they have foreign passengers thinking that they can afford whatever they demand. If cheater taxi drivers reasoned that their meter is broken, tell them to stop. Anyway, the starting price is 30php and per 2km is worth 2.50 php that is to be added in the starting fare. If you're a passenger, don't pretend that you are new to the place,if you chat with taxi driver while riding, don't give them a hint that you don't know the place. Be careful!

I truly understand this, I am from Manila and just as when you are in the rush hour, these taxi's just don't want to take you to your workplace, or if they do, they would ask you for an additional fare. tough luck!

Very true! If the meter's on, as if you're riding on a turtle's back but if the you pay money and no meter, you're with the chetah, very fast! I can't imagine what will be riding a taxi for the next 20 years. Hope passengers should have the courage to fight back these rude taxi drivers.
Thanks for the repply.
