Both. We must first believe that Christ is our savior, but then we must also live lives that demonstrate this. We cannot simply believe and expect to be saved. God requires more of us than that. We must make a change in our lives to live a more Christian life, a life more devoted to God. I think doing good deeds come as a result of this. But one cannot be saved simply by doing lots of good deeds.

Doing good things is useless without believing and believing without doing good deeds is the same thing. Thank you for the response., I appreciate it. Goodluck

The fruits of the spirits are how we show we believeth. How we treat our fellow men is showing we believeth.
Galatians 5:22-25
22:But he fruit of the spirit is love, joy, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23: Meekness, temperance:against such there is no law.
24: And they that are Christ's have crucified the flsh with the affection and lusts.
25: If we live is Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Hi there, first of all how do you know we gotta do good??of course by GOD.how do we know wat he wants us to do??of course GOD again...SO we gotta know him first to beleive in him and then our belief makes us to love him .And love for him makes us to follow him do wat he wants and that is do good. You see all is interconnected.Love is god and god is good.

If salvation is through good works, no person will be good enough to merit salvation. We all commit sin in one way or another and will fail to reach God's standards of holiness. Salvation is not faith + works but faith that works. A genuine faith that results to good works.

Well said again, Manong.
No amount of good works could possibly be enough to wipe out the sin, or enough to make God wipe out out sin. Our sin separates us from God. We CANNOT reach His standard of perfection.
Salvation can ONLY be on God's terms, and He has decreed that it is by His grace, through faith in the finished work of Christ. Our faith WILL result in works, which will then show evidence of our faith.

I believe God's Word Revealed "The Bible" says its true that man being a sinner can never save himself.
Man can do many good deeds but never good enough to save himself cause no matter how good, nobody is perfect.
Even David sinned with Bathsheba and David is termed "a man after God's own heart"
So, i believe with all my heart that salvation is by faith.

Thanky you for handing a good example.. But what is A man after God's own heart meanS? Meaning nearest to what GOD's heart?,doing his best and showing good deeds? You are correct in saying that no one is perfect. Thus, anyone who attemps and do his own best, still he will commit a simple mistake.. Thank you for the good response

Through faith in Jesus Christ we are being saved by GOD. Nood because of our deed.
HOWEVER, when we received the Lord, we do good deeds, merely because we love HIM and GOD so loves us. We don't do good deeds for HIM to accept us, but we do good deeds for He taught us, He gave us the sample of living proof how to live, and because of love.

Thank you very much for the response. This is quiete really a debating sucject. It is the strong faith that we are being saved. And if we believe in him eventually we will be doing good things

at first, i believed that doing good deeds will save you on your judgement day. but 2 yrs ago, i learned from a religious friend who has attended a religious seminar that in order for us to be saved we should have strong faith in HIM. doing good deeds is not enough to be saved. some do good deeds but don't have strong faith in HIM. they ask or question God's capabilities in granting their prayers.

It goes hand in hand, if you believe that there is a supreme being, your mind will tell you to follow what is in, you believe as a good instruction...the Bible or whatever Holy book you prefer. Believing to what you cannot see exhibit Faith.
When you packed yourself with these...FAITH,LOVE to supreme being... your tendency is to do good works. You do good works because you want to please God and because you know that this is what is right to do. SALVATION is a gift that everyone should accept.
People can do good works but if the purpose is for self glorification instead of GODS...Good luck...let good deeds alone save you.

Faith is defined as human approval response to the revelation of God The Loving Father through His Son Jesus Christ - The Salvator. God our Father sent his Son to redeem our sins, this is the summit revelation. And this is an actual love that recreates us to be a new one. Having faith must be participating in this actual love God has revealed to us.
God has loved us AT FIRST, in action, long before we could love Him. Once we've got involved in this interaction, we couldn't stop more. Once we've had faith, we couldn't stop loving in the mission of salvation, because God's love don't stop: from the begining, now and forever.
Related to the deed we made, we know the exact motivation behind. We must ask: is it under the mission? That's the critical point, I think, to make a decission doe to human free-will.
