Is GMAIL account is for free now?

So, now we don't have to get invitation to have a Gmail account. When I today, sign out to my Gmail account then I saw that its signup is for free. Is it for real. If it so, you will really get it.

i don't know maybe free or not.. but what i know for started maybe free for2-3 month.. after that maybe u must pay for use it..

i think it's will be free forever just like their motto "Dont be evil", except they change their motto. Beside that it's for the battle with MSN and Yahoo mail, so they need to change the way.
