what is it with all the violence in sports,is it a way to show that your favorites are victorious anyway,no matter what the fixture`s result is?or maybe it`s a way to proove "manhood"?I also like sport competitions but i realise that they really do mean sports and not a life and death issue.

I guess that in sport a little competition can turn bad.Can you imagine by the way chess players fighting like hockey or rugby one's do?that would be so funny.i guess sports are ment for releasing that "negative" energy that a competiotion (of any kind) can have but i'm speaking about the minor cases not the hooligans or other concepts of general fighting...i find that pretty lame in my opinion.Want a fight? Then get an open field with people who would participate in that and start "medieval" gaming session.Just don't do it in stadiums and ruin everybody's day.best wishes dude.

that is true, hooliganism is primitive, sports have the concept of fair play.Maybe it`s just an excuse given by rivalry to let out the brute in you...chess can never offer that excuse now can it?:))

actually i think that chess players can turn on each other...just place there two individuals who are less "intelligent" and see what happends.Come to think of it...it if about the IQ of some sports.Think of it..in rugby you need your muscles not your brains...inflict damage and win...in chess you need every neuronal connection you've got to win. Thus the more intelligent the sport is...the less violence you will get.
