All we know is that Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan in commemoration of his wife Mumtaz. But documents and information which proves that the Taj was not built by Shah Jahan has been revealed.Some say that Taj mahal predates Shah Jahan by several years and it was originally a vedic/ hindu temple complex.The Taj has been merely acqired by Shah Jahan from an hindu king Jai Singh.
