I would have a simple rice pilaf with steamed asparagus.
Here is my rice pilaf recipe.
8 tbsp. butter
2 c. orzo (a pasta)
3 c. long grain rice
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ground black pepper
10 c. chicken broth
Melt butter over medium heat in large saucepan. Stir in the orzo until golden brown. Add the rice, salt and pepper. Add chicken broth to rice mixture. Turn to high heat until rice comes to a boil, cover and turn heat to low, simmer 20 minutes or until rice is fluffy and all liquid is absorbed. Let the pilaf sit 10 minutes off heat before serving.
Serves 10.

I'd say just herb seasoned brown rice would go nicely with it. I've always preferred rice with fish dishes, personally. Potato always strikes me as a side for red meat or chicken, as opposed to fish. But some brown rice with just a little bit of seasoning - maybe some tarragon, that goes wonderfully with fish , and basil.

Pecan salmon?? That sounds just delicious. My boyfriend is native so we eat quite abit of fish in our household (much to my children's dismay). I'm way more into rice than I am potatoes and normally make a rice stuffing for fish if you are cooking it whole. Even as a side dish though, rice is good. Even just plain rice but it's not hard to jazz up a pot of rice just by throwing spices or flavours in when cooking it. I read a post here yesterday about replacing the water with beet juice and making pink rice that I'm just dying to try.

A complement for nice salmon meal is usually rice with mixed vegetables with sauce mixed. It is really very tasty to eat. Try tomato sauce especially.
