Do you think that movies have more meaning behind them than just the story on the surface? Is there somthing more important that they have to say about society? Can you name any movies that have had a social impact on you, movies that made you think differently about the world or your life? I find that film is an art form that reaches so many people that I was wondering what you thought the social impact of certain films were and why?

Of course not all movies have more meaning than just the surface, but quite a few do. I actually took a film class last semester and learned some about films anyways. :) One movie that I loved and that had a lot of social impact on me at least, was Crash. It shows people from all walks of life and I love how its all connected. And of course the overall message about racism is great and easily understood.

I didn't really like Crash, probably because it didn't show me anything that I couldn't see by driving down to L.A. It also didn't give any hope for a solution to the problem either. I also didn't feel connected to the characters so that I cared about their plight. It just didn't draw me in.
