It is clear that the Iraqi people do not appreciate the continued presence of foreign soldiers in their country. They must be wondering what they have been saved from at this stage. In Washington almost every day you will hear an American politician say that they will stay there until free democratic elections can be held.
This is the one that really stumps me , because , if you let the people of Iraq vote for who they want to lead them, they will vote for the craziest most anti american guy that they can find.
So are the US waiting to find a strong enough puppet to avert this happening?
P.S. this is not an anti american post so please dont turn it into that

The Iraqi government already has had democratic elections.... And the people and their PResident WANT the US to stay longer....
It isn't "clear" that they want us gone, a select few that blow themselves up and make the news make their point clear, not the Iraqi people's.... You only see the bad side, not the side where the Iraqis greeted us with open arms or work with us to build schools and hospitals.

If the media in the U.S is leading you to believe what you stated im afraid you are being seriously misled.
Jalal Talabani was GIVEN the presidency after more than two months of deadlock between the different Iraqi factions.
They were all being put under pressure by the US govt to pick someone as interim president to create a facade of normality in the country so they did the only thing they could and picked the guy that was least offensive to all parties.
He is meant to remain as "president" until democratic elections can be organised. He has no power.
