I hate the word "girl" To me, "girl" means a female who is somehow lesser than their male counterpart. I mean, if you want to insult a man, you call him a "boy." People often talk about "seperating the men from the boys" (I heard that on Hockey Night in Canada last night) and I think "girl" has the same connotation. When I hear it come from a man, it's as if you're saying to the woman, "you're lesser than I am." I dunno. Am I wrong?
