Hi guys, an interesting topic,I don't undertand how most young teenagers read books or some important coursework while listening to Hard rock music from MP3 players.
I'm not sure it's good for their health even. And for me I can't read an important thing and get things inside specially listening to rock music as it breaks my concentration. But I have seen heaps of people doing the same in public transport.

It's all about practice! lol
Seriously, if you listen to hard rock music all the time, you get to where you can pay very little attention to it and still enjoy it. As for being bad for your health, using any kind of headphones can be hard on your hearing, especially earbuds.
All kinds of music are equally ignorable to me, except maybe rap, which tends to annoy me. I have been known to nap through my husband's hard rock band's rehearsals. =p

I guess it is like 'white noise'. It is just a constant, tuneless noise with electronic rythm that wipes out all other noises so they can concentrate on their work.
It's like the 'thumpers' passing in the street - you know the ones with 50 watt speakers in a mini. The drivers usually have glazed eyes but are in fact concentrating really well and driving safely. Well that is till a fire engine flattens them because the can't hear the siren!
