The comments listed above are very good. I used to live a couple hours from Vegas, and I say that I spend the majority of time doing everything accept gambling.
1. For shows, I love the Blue Man Group at the Venetian. I have seen it 3 times, and would definitely go again if I had the chance. Mystere is also excellent, and I agree with the Zumainity show...It's terrible.
2. Hotel-hopping during the day is great. If you get the chance, check out the Aquarium at Mandalay Bay...You will not be disappointed. The Venetian is awesome, along with the Belagio, etc, and finally the new Wynn Signature Hotel is an experience you will never forget. With a Ferrari Dealership, Rolex, and Diamond necklaces worth a quarter mil in the hotel, you can't go wrong.
3. At night if you are into it, certain night-clubs are a great time. I love RA a the Luxor, and Studi 54 at MGM. Also, Rain at Palms (Off the strip), and Club RIO (On top of the RIO) are a ton of fun. If you are looking to splurge, you can rent a limo that will cover up to 5 VIP passes for the best clubs, all you can drink, and no worries about cabs or DUI's...all for about $350 or more depending on what limp, etc you get.
Hope this helps and is worth a decent rating. Reply if you need some other ideas. I llllooooovvvveeee Vegas.

Check out the Hoover Dam also. It's not that far away, and you can take a bus tour there if you don't have a rental car. Also, even the Grand Canyon is not all that far away if you have the time and want to see it. Bus tours from Vegas are also available.

One great way to pass the time during the day and get a break from the casinos and the madness of the strip is to head to the Liberace Museum. It's about a ten minute drive from the casino strip, and still makes you feel like you're in glitzy Las Vegas, even though the setting is a lot more relaxed than the constant noise and action of the Vegas casinos. The Liberace Museum presents a surprisingly touching picture of the pianist; even though I'm not a Liberace fan per se, I really enjoyed the museum.

I fully anticipate going to Las vegas but I do not gamble much.I am going to see the sights and the sounds.I want to watch the night lights, catch a few shows and visit the museum etc. Las Vegas is like a min-world where one minute you feel like you are in NY and the next in Paris. An easyway to see online what is available is to type in Las Vegas into search.

I am a Vegas native so here are some ideas for ya that dont involve gambling.Lake Mead is very beautiful and only about 30 minutes away, the Las Vegas marina has a boat tour of the lake that includes lunch, Hoover Dam is a nice little drive not to mention gets you out of the hustle of the city and belive it or not there is a casino way out there by the dam so you can have lunch, enjoy the dam and of course there are countless FREE shows all over Vegas, most hotel rooms have a book called whats on Vegas that tells you where and when the shows are as well as various other activities in and around the city goes and in some cases the price of them if they arent free, also the hotel front desk can also give you more info on all sorts of things to see and do.
