Have you taken out your WISDOM TEETH?

These last couple of days, I have had pain in the back of my teeth and gums, because (I am assuming), that my wisdom teeth are finally growing. I guess it is taking me a long time to wisen up. Anyone else, have wisdom teeth taking so long to grow. My husband got two pulled out, and still has another two to take out, and he is very worried, because he had that problem where they wouldn't stop bleeding ( I forgot what it was called, I think it starts with a C, I am sure someone else knows), anyways, he got really sick, and lost a lot of weight, because he could barely keep anything down, not even soup or broth. My brother, got all four taken out at the same time, and had a puffy mouth for a few days, and gauze and cottonballs stuck in his mouth, but he was ok, because after the first few days of sipping from a straw, he got really hungry, and so, he ate while they were healing...I don't really know how, but I am glad he was alright, because my hubby's story really worried me.

Well, I don't want to jinx myself lol but I don't have either of those problems. From what I understand, my wisdom teeth are in my jaws. Funny huh. The doctor did say they would have to be removed, but she didn't specify when, so for now I'm happily living in ignorant bliss lol. The thought of having them removed is really scary, so I would rather keep them in then take them out. But my brother also had the problem, and he did the same thing. It only lasted a few days and that was it. After a while, he was feeling better.

No, not really. I mean some days I'll feel something, but it usually goes away within minutes. Hopefully, mine wont bother me, although the doctor did say I would have to get them removed. But she didn't say more about it, so that's about it.

Yeah, I believe that I will probably have the same issue, because sometimes, they do not hurt for a long time.

That is good to know. Glad that you don't have them hurting your gums like me. Have you felt any crowding, because I believe that mine are starting to crowd my teeth, and that is going to become an even bigger problem for me in the future.

I was fairly early with all my teeth, including my wisdom. I had to have all my wisdom teeth taken out when I was 19. This was because they wouldn't fit in my mouth. I had a general anasthetic. There weren't too many problems after. If you have a pain with your wisdom teeth, you really need to get it checked out soon. If the pain worsens quickly, it really is terrible, and some Dentists are not available on the weekend.

Yes, you are right. That is what happened with my brother, he got them out right around the time he turned 21. For me, I do not believe that it is very painful in the sense that it is the "teeth" it is more like my gums, and there is a sense of crowding going on, near the bottom. Nothing is going on on the top, so I guess it is only the lower ones that might be growing.

I got all 4 of mine taken out not too long ago. I was horrified because a lot of my friends were telling me all their bad expierences they have had with it , like your husband's. Well when I got mine done I was asleep then I woke up half way through it and I was hysterically crying because of the medicine I was on, it was weird. Well then after the surgery I bled a whole lot, I had the gauze and stuff in for a long time. I was on so much medicine though it didn't really hurt as bad as I thought it was going to. I pretty much slept for about a week lol, the medicine made me really tired. I lost a lot of weight too maybe about 7 pounds because I rarely ate. Its different for everyone though, you never know whats going to go on for you.

I had two taken out at the same time and never had any problems. My sons widsom teeth were infected and he had all four pulled at the same time and had no real problems. Just had a puffed out face and pain for a couple of days. I would ask the doctor about this and if you are having problems I would go and get it taken care of before it becomes a even bigger problem.

Yeah, they say that it will take a long time for my teeth to grow out, but, I guess I should see what is going on, because maybe they are growing faster or something.

Getting your wisdom teeth pulled out is an awful experience. I had all four wisdom teeth deeply impacted into my jaws, and I had to have day surgery to get them removed. Of course, they told me not to smoke, which I did as soon as I got out to the car again. What I didnt realize was that by smoking I was actually sucking the blood clots down my throat, exposing the open nerves. Dangling nerve endings....exposed to open air. The pain was EXCRUCIATING. I spent the entire week in intense pain, not even realizing the extent of my problem. Finally it was time to get the stiches out, and when I went to the dentist, he could not believe I had not come in to see him sooner. He applied clove oil to the wounds, and it was an instent relief. And I learned a good lesson....NEVER smoke after oral surgery, at least wait for 72 hours. I hope that you are one of the lucky ones, and that you never have to go through something like that. Good luck, and take care.

I had all my wisdom teeth plus another regular tooth taken out all at the same time and they put me to sleep. I had no pain afterwards which was great! they had to cut 2 of them out because they had not even came through yet, but they were decayed. I didn't know a tooth could decay inside the gim! Mine had gotten to hurt so bad that I was having to take pain medicine every 4 hours because they hurt so bad, so it was a relief to have them out and to no longer have that ache! I didn't have to take any pain medicine after they were removed. Why they are called "wisdom" teeth baffles me....I'm alot smarter now then I ever was when I had them. lol

I used to have pain when my wisdom teeth were growing but that was a few years ago. I think they stopped growing already. My dentist told me from before how I should get them taken out because they're growing out crooked and it will mess up my jaw but I haven't yet lol... I'm scared because I know it will hurt. Go to your dentist and see if you need them taken out now. hope you don't :)

Wow, it grew back. That is so cool... well, as long as it is not being troublesome, then, that is good.

I have had all my wisdom teeth until 2 days ago and i finally got one pulled...I had went to get it pulled before but the dentist just filled it,and that was a mistake..They always told me i had to go to an oral surgeon, but my dentist did mine.I had a huge abcess on the root,he had been giving me antibiotic's for 2 weeks and the infection would not go away so he had to pull it..So i stll have 3 wisdom teeth left.Mine grew in at a very young age and now just got one pulled so that not bad huh?I am really sorry about your husband being so sick,it must have got infection,if your husband smokes then that could have been what happened,im not sure, but thats what my dentist said could happen if you smoke...I do hope he does not have that much trouble when he has those other 2 pulled..I am lucky i suppose,it was bad the first day but its better now,and i am eating some on the other side of my mouth but it taks forever to eat anything and then I have to mash it up..Yes yours are growing ,they do ache when they are coming in,i do remember ...

I had a friend that had to have an emergency wisdom tooth extraction. They actually did both on the one side since they knocked her out. Turned out that the bottom tooth's root was growing around her facial nerve and if she hadn't had the tooth out it could've cut it!!!

i'm thinking about getting my wisdom teeth pulled, i'm 19 and they haven't fully grown out yet but, they will make the rest of your teeth crooked and aren't nessasry, infact eventually humans won't even grow wisdwom teeth at all, but evolution takes thousands of years and the dentist takes only 1 day

Yes, I see what you mean. I would get a dentist to give you a checkup first, to see if it is necessary. Because, there is always a need for them, unless you really have a problem, and have to get them removed. Plus, even with health insurance, it can be very expensive.

When I was in high school I had all four of mine taken out at once, my face was a little puffy but not too bad. They put the gauze in your mouth and then I had to go back a few days later for them to take it out and until them everything that I ate tasted like blood, it was really gross. But not alot of pair or anything.

I had mine taken out a few months ago. I'm 25. I had the top two pulled and a week later the bottom two cut out. I was wide awake for both events. The bottoms gave me a lot of problems, my nerve was damaged and my face was numb for two months! It hurt like hades for a few days too, the pain meds made me sick - I didnt take them. I'd get them pulled before they cause you more problems, mine made my entire face hurt and gave me horrible headaches.

Well I'm 19 years old, and mine started coming in around the age of 18 or so, not quite sure. I have to say that I think it's one of the most painful things I've ever had to deal with (that is a natural thing anyway). I haven't had any of mine pulled out, since all except for 1 has completely "grown in", the last one is almost there. I've been told about bad experiences myself that had to do with people getting them removed, that had alot to do with my decision of not doing it. Hopefully this will not be something that I regret.
