Does a man's act of secrecy make a woman's act of sleuthing legal?

I tried to borrow my bf's cellphone for no reason. He panicked and made lame excuse about privacy. He was suddenly angry, which made me doubt him. I was shocked. Why was he acting that way? I tried to talk to him but he just dismissed the issue. I'm not the pry-type kind of gf but after that incident, i've been wanting to peek at his mobile messages behind his back. But I didn't...and i've been keeping in mind that "Privacy is what you give your boyfriend out of respect".

Hmm...sounds kinda suspicious to me too. If he has nothing to hide, why would he react in such a shockingly rude manner? And for him to dismiss you so easily every time you try to bring up the subject..hmm..I would be suspicious too. I think you should listen to your instincts. A woman's instincts are usually spot on! I do understand the part about privacy and I do agree that privacy is important and we should respect each other that way but in a relationship, openness and communication are also very important. If he's not open and willing to communicate with you and just brush you off each time, it sounds like he's trying to hide something.
