i'm a seed roaster too. i clean all the gunk from the seeds, rinse them off, toss with salt and then spread on a sprayed cookie sheet. bake at 350*. you'll see when they are done. it doesn't take long.

The bought ones are yummy little grey things, these are big and white, do they open in the oven or do I have to fiddle?

that's what i mean. shell and all. i think if you bake them too long, they get bitter. so, be careful.

You can toast the seeds. My daughter tried that last year and noone liked them. This year when she carved her pumpkin for the kids she babysits for they wanted to make something and I told them it is easier to open a can of pumpkin and make cookies and bread then to try to cook the pumpkin. It is very time consuming and I did it once. Its easier to open the can ofpumpkin and probley cheaper. Sorry not much help here.

Quite like the seeds from the shop, think I'll let the kids plant these, there's loads so something should grow. Found a webside with loads of recipies including cheesecake and ice cream but you need loads of spices of it wasn't cost efficient. seem to remember pupkin mash baby food so I've been putting it in with the mashed potatoe, my oldest loves it becaue he thinks it gives his special pwers a boost and who am I to argue? Any new food he'll eat is a bonus!

I use pumpkin pie spice in place of all the spices then add a the cinnamon that the recipe calls for. It works good.

PUMPKIN PANCAKES this is one of my favorite recipe. pancakes are so soft. cook around 1 cup of pumpkin, cut on bigger pieces squash it use 1 cup of indian wheat flour (its macrobiotic flour which is used for making gluten - hope u can find it) little salt mineral water - how much is needed to get soft dought for pancakes 1/2 glass of corn meal or rice flour 1 teaspoon of cinamon add pumpkin paste and mix all well. if u have soya milk also one little part of it can be added also a small amount of apple juice can be used fry like normal pancakes.
