Hhhhmmm...My mother named me "Kaeli". As a child, I'd hear it pronounced as "Kai-lee" "Kee-lee" "Kay-lie"...and it's pronounced "Kay-leigh". My middle name was after my father. Let's say his name is "Michael". That would make my middle name "Michell".
When I met my current hubby, I found out his last name is the shortened form of my father's name. So, I told him right after I met him, "Well, I'll best never marry you or my name will be Kaeli Michell Mickey." I married the man and took his last name.
Now, it could have been worse, my mother could have made me keep one of my Vietnamese names..."Phoung". Not bad until I found out it was pronounce "Foong" and my next name was "Tan". "Foon Tan"...too much like a futon in which you sleep on. The jokes that my hubby gave me were horrible. Thank goodness our child is a boy!

my mother named me corinthia dawn. i personally like my name, i dont ever remember not liking it growing up. i never really got picked on durring high school. it was more when i got into college and more things were learned about the "Corinthians" i was an interior design major, and the corinthians had a lot to do with arhitecture, people would giggle and say "thats your name!"
when i was younger most people would tell me that it was a beautiful name. latly i get, "thats a weird name" i dont know if its an insult or compliment. i have no idea how to take it, i just kind of ignore the comment, or say "i know"
my mother got my name from my great great grandmother. ive never once met someone with my name. my middle name came from my grandfather, his middle name was donald. so i got the "girl" version of it. im so glad i wasnt a boy cause donald would have been my middle name

I Think my name is funcky. It is Raylene Sue. Mom thought I was going to be a boy. Did not have a girl name picked out. My brother in grade school had a girl friend at the time. I was named for her. Mom did not know where my brother got the name until open house at school.

My mother did not give me a funky name per say as much as I was born into it. My original name before adoption was Lisa Gail Ceaser. My stepdad's last name was Ceaser. Growing up with that last name can be really trying I will list a few examples.
I am sure some of you remember the Planet of the Apes and the one named Cezar. I was called Cezar of the Planet of the Apes.
One of my teachers couldn't help himself and called me Cezars Salad. Can you imagine a teacher that had to get in a few shots in school to help make things even worse.
I do remember one day when I was in the cafateria and I was heading through the line a guy got up got on the ground and started bowing to me and saying hail Ceaser, hail Ceaser. I tried to get him up but he just got louder. That has stuck with me a long time.
Yes Ceaser was not the best name but I guess it beats Flippen the last name of my Ex-husband.
