Nothing can quite beat the legendary works of JRR Tolkien, and the Lord of the Rings would count as one of the most popular and well loved of his works. His was truly a literary masterpiece, that although did not command the fan base of Harry Potter, has been recognised by both the common man and academics the world over as truly, a work of a master. The Narnia series cannot have hope to compete with the Lord of the Rings in my humble opinion.

I love the narnia books - at first gander they seemed very Juvenile (I'm reading these after reading the Whole Sword of Truth Series - 800+ pages each - 11 books)... I'm a huge fantasy fan, but I waited a long time to read Narnia - till I was 27. I must say though, after I got past the juvenile slant as it was written for a younger age group - there is just so much symbolism, and it is just a beautiful mesh of all of our mythology and faith systems into a belief system on Narnia, and I liked how much it related to Christianity and my beliefs.

Of course not. LOTR is unbeatable! It's the best fantasy ever. And the movie is meant for older viewers. You can compare Narnia, Harry Potter, and Eragon but not with LOTR.

I'd say it's better than Harry Potter, but you can't really compare it to Lord of the Rings as that was supposed to be for adults. I love the Narnia stories, but I adore LotR for example as there's more depth to it.

i love all the 3 choices. =) Narnia is about a mystifying land and i really love the story about Narnia. i also love harry potter because it teaches about friendship and trials in life. In LOTR, i also love it because of friendship too and bravery. =)

I find the Narnia series much better, but I'm not saying anything against the others, one of my close friends, for example, loves LOTR

personally i liked the LOTR books better than the harry potter and Narnia, but thats probably because of my age. the Harry Potter books are very good, but LOTR just has more depth i feel. Narnia is a wonderful story but the books are very much geared to a far younger age than i am lol!!

Narnia! Narnia! (I'm chanting it out). I grew up loving those series so much. They are both magical and mature as well as fun childhood things in it. The movie that came out was not good, but the books, I read through childhood, teenager age, and adult years. They're the best! Glad to see there were many other people agreeing.

NO WAY! OK, I like the Narnia books, but I think Harry Potter is a better series because the stories are more continuous. If it comes to the movies, though, I think LOTR were better movies than the Harry Potter movies. Not that they weren't good, but I enjoyed the LOTR movies more than Harry Potter OR Narnia. BUT I almost enjoyed the Harry Potter books more than the LOTR books, and definately more than Narnia. Of course, they are ALL WONDERFUL reads!

If that question has to be based on children book, then, it's ' The Chronicle of Narnia'. It's just a Clean Fairy Tale, more realistic, and recommendable, uinlike Harry Potter which comprises of Dark Things. Lord of the Ring (trilogy)- is an adult contemporary, but it's the most popular among all. Brilliant stories, character.
