allowing kids 5-11 years old to use computer. how many hours?

well i depends on what they do and what is fun and what i learning. U cannot really say what a good time is but you can say what is too long. I mean it cant be good for thier eys and the might make them socially incapbable.

well see i think you can allow them for atleast 1-2hrs daily which must include assignments and games ! i think it is very important for children's to get hand on computers as early as possible ! there is no loss but will be beneficial for future they will catch the things in nearby future when they will get taught by their teachers !

I think 1 to 2 hours is enough for a child that age. More than that would be addicting and will not leave them enough time to do anything else. It's good for little kids to be trained early on how to use computers but 1 to 2 hours is just right.

Unfortunately my 14 (nearly 15 year old) lives with her dad (Im in the country so she goes to highschool in the city). So I cant restrict her internet usage, on school holidays, Ive seen her online at 3am in the morning (grrr I havent been too happy about that). Where as my son (11) is only allowed a few hours a day, this is so he can do some research, ususally on games he plays, or to talk to his uncle, cousin, sister or grandparents. But to be honest I find him on the computer only a few hours a week, sometimes he may not use it at all for a month or two at a time. I like that.

at the moment our lives are a bit haphazard..when i am in uk i allow him like you..on weekends manily..but i allow him at night just to chill to play for a while instead of telly.. after he has done his homework etc..as a treat..

I'd say you shouldn't limit them as long as they are doing other things as well and are not isolated by it. As you said computers are a part of everyday life and learning how to use them early is good. I know I did and back then the usage of computers was alot more complicated.

ya u r doin well.i dont have any children but i will suggest u to try that not to make them a computer bug. & take care of their eyes specially.dont make them spect

i think the avarage time you can allow to your kids to stay at the computer , about 2 hour a day , if this time is great than this , perhaps the computers do a prblems with eyes

ya, it should be allowed upto 3-4 hr. max a day.. it would be good medium to learn things faster way...
