India is emerging as a key biotech leder in asia surpasing china for the first time.In the next decade the crop research improved by biotech will include a number of projects from asia. Countries in Asia are incresing their research in biotech to meet their incresing needs of food,fibre and fuel.In 2006,India it tripled the area used for planting biotech cotton from the previous year.India now has 3.8 million hectares while China has 3.5 miliion hectares. Another crop which is incresingly grown in Asia is golden rice which is rich in Vitamin A.
