Do you have any sisters? Older or younger?

My only sister is 23 months younger than I. She was born with a hole in her heart. Back in the 1950s there was no such thing as open heart surgery or lazers so she had to stay in the hospital for 4 months going thru lord-knows-what until it closed mostly on its own. When she was brought home, I was allowed to see her for 2.5 seconds before they whisked her into her crib in my parent's bedroom and locked the door against me. She had to be away from me and my "germs" until her incisions healed. My father even had to cover himself with a bedsheet and wear a mask into the room to see her. Only my mother and her mother went in and out of there. When they did, I remember putting my little chair in front of the locked door and yelling I wanted to see my sister! Finally, when she was 7 months old, plump with bright blue eyes and blonde hair, was when I was allowed to come in, touch her and stay with her. It was a traumatic time for a 3 year old! She was my miracle sister, because she was one in 5,000 births with that kind of problem to survive back then.

wow, that is an incredible story. She is so lucky!! I do have a sister, she is three years older then me. We did not live with each other for most of our childhood, but we are really close now. We help each other out and are there for each other. .I also have a little brother, but he is 16 years younger then I am.

I have one sister who is older then me. She's actually six and a half years older then me. No there were no others between us. My mother was told not to have any children for a while after my sister was born prematurly, they told her she had a weak uterus. So just when they were thinking of trying again my mom turned up pregant with me. Right now I live with my sister and her daughter. We've been living together for many years and although we might argue on occassion we get along quite well.

That is sad but it sounds like she made it alright. That is a blessing and I would say that you two are special to each other. I come from a family of ten. Five boys and five girls including myself. Two of my brothers are passed away. My sisters are alive and we all are very busy. We do keep in contact but go long times in between contacting each other. That to me is very surprising because we have strong Italian blood in us. My dad was Italian totally and had come over here from Italy at a young age. My thinking of Italian nationality is close knit families but mine wasn't and that makes me sad.

You are so lucky you have a sister. I don't have one and always envy those who do... People tell me that my mom looks like my elder sister - well that is her beauty secret ;) But I really wish I had an elder sis... whom I can count on for advice, with whom I can hang out, with whom I can share anything... I really yearn for real girl company nowadays and I wish, I wish I had a sister

You are very good at telling stories. I have read quite a few of them now. I do not have any brothers or sisters.
