This is not quite about the discussion but I will add it anyway. I think that when someone makes a good response to a discussion or the discussion topic is good then they should be 'rewarded' with a positive response. Also the best response should be rewarded in the same way, i.e. given a 'best response'.
I believe doing that is part of being a member of the community of myLot in that we should acknowledge people's efforts. Unfortunately I see too many subjects where this hasn't happened. :)

I agree Ossie, but honestly, how many people are just bothered about getting their post off to run off to the next discussion without even giving the slightest glance to what other people have thought?

I think that most people will respond to controversial topics because these are usually what people have very strong opinions about. I respond to a whole variety of discussions though and not all the controversial ones. In fact I do several BrainBusters a day - usually not of a controversial nature though.

I agree with the above, its kinda hard to respond more than once to simpler questions. Strong opinions will keep you going on and on and on....

Yews controversial topics are hot topics as if people respond to them they get involved in some discussions, they get replies and are able to post some replies too... this is what takes them into this kind of discussions and they earn more coz of this postings which are more in amount...

Controversial? I think most of them are just ridiculous. It’s about time people learnt that you don’t get a point per response so you might as well ask a proper interesting question and gain our respect rather than scorn.
If you look beyond the hot topics you can find some insightful discussions.

I don't think it is a way to test one's ability but an interest in discussing topics. Hot topics will always be hot! Controversial topics will always be controversial as they have been since the beginning of time.
