I love rap but my parents hate it.

I don't think that there is much that you can do to change your parents attitude towards rap. They are from a generation when music was actually music and rap is different. You just have to talk to them.. explain to them your reasons for liking rap. Assure them that you aren't going to turn gangster simply because you like to listen to the music. They'll soon understand that you are your own person with your own likes and dislikes but you'll have to be able to give them valid reasons why you want to listen to rap in the first place.

I am also a big fan of rap music. I listen to rap music everyday and I am lucky that my parents do not complain that much. All that my parents say is that this type of music is so different from what they used to listen in their teens. You should tell your parents that you really love this genre of music like they love a certain genre of music.

I guess your parents are not going to change their minds about Rap music, but I don't think the should chose for you what to listen and what not listen. If you listen to rap not too loudly and it isn't disturb your parents resting, they shouldn't ask you to stop. You can talk to them and tell them that you are mature enough to chose your own music. but promise them it won't disturb them. I'm sure that when your parents were little, their parents also thought that their favorite music was a load of trash.

Oh well, it's the same situation with me :) I also really love rap and hip hop music, it's a source for me in my life, but my parents hate it and the make fun of it. I don't think there's anything you can do to change their opinion. Just tell them that you like it and except they don't you won't stop listening to it and that's it. I mean they can't forbid it to you. Just be yourself and do what you wanna do...
