Best cars?

Last Monday, I was in an accident and rolled my car. I hit a patch of ice and lost control of my car. My car was front wheel drive. My question is: which is better, front wheel drive, rear wheel drive or all wheel drive? My sister says that my next car needs to have all wheel drive, while my husband says that all wheel drive are unsafe in icy driving. Can you help me?

Well I am glad you're safe and sound. I have a rear wheel drive and its not so great in the snow and ice. The back is too light, I've been told several times. A rule I always use when the roads are bad is going slow and never change lanes, thats when the spin outs occur. My dad has a 4x4 and it does GREAT when the roads are bad as long as we go slow.

Thanks for your input. I was changing lanes when I hit the ice. I won't be changing lanes in icy weather again. I think that I would like a 4x4 for my next vehicle. But I will still go slow in bad weather.

I am so sorry about your accident, but thrilled you are here to talk about it. Praise the Lord. I think you would be best to go with a rear drive, it is best for your weather conditions. Good luck and feel good dear.

Thank you for your response. I thank God that He allowed me to walk away from the crash with a few bruises and scrapes. Now, I just have to get over the panic of driving in snowy and icy weather.

The front wheel Drives are suppose to be the Safest ones that is what I have always been told and I think your Husband is right that the all Wheels are not safe on Icy Roads, so I would stick to front wheels. I think you just had some bad luck there Sweet. But I am glad that you are better now.

its not the car as much as the training the driver has had that prevents accidents. However, if you are going to slam on the brakes of a front wheel drive car on ice, or wet roads, like only using the front hand brakes of a bicycle, you are going to get in serious trouble. You have to learn to take your foot off the pedals and coast with the skid in any car. You might want to invest in some defensive driving classes.

Thanks for the post. I think I would like to take a defensive driving class.

Awww i'm sorry i do hope that you weren't hurt but i bet you are well shocked after that: My car is a front wheel drive, but to be honest i'm usless with cars...i'm one of them that if it start to rain hard i refuse to drive as i get panic attacks, either my mum drives me to work and drops the kids of at school if not they dont go to school and i don't work, lucky for me i run my own business, but lucky for me we really dont get much rin, i would hate to think what i'd be like on ice. My dad use to tell me if i ever it ice or an oily patch and skid you are meant to atually turned your wheel into the skid ? I did have a skid a few years ago and done that it actually work but i did end up in the middle of the road facing the on coming traffic

Short answer: Rear-wheel drive is essentially the safest. Having covered motor racing for seven years in a previous career, I can tell you that all the experts are pretty solid about this. Front-wheel drive entails a weight problem in which most of the major, heavier working parts are grouped in the front end, making for an unstable situation which might, indeed, have been a factor in your own crash. All-wheel drive is horribly oversold. In the only situation where it would benefit you at all would be if your rear tires were stuck in mud or snow. But if all four wheels are buried, all-wheel drive merely buries you more deeply and actually rear-wheel drive is best. Your husband is wise and correct on this point.

My favorite will the Firebird or a Blue Infernus. With the Firebird, it will come with Ragtop, Coinvoitable, convertible, Magwheels, pinstripes. My Voodoo car will have 10x BLUE FLARE NITROS. So I sugggest. I SAY FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. I you have all wheel drive. it will lose momentum and slip. YOU Could also face turning to quickly and running over people. I say get Front Wheels, its the safe way they drive in Vice City. its the safe style to ride now. Don't Worry Tommy Vercetti Won over Hilary so.

I have a front wheel drive car and I also have a rear wheel drive one.I live in a place where we have a lot of ice and snow , in the winter I do not even drive the rear wheel drive because it is all over the road. Front wheel is best on ice, but no matter what kind of car if it is too icy you are just not going to be able to stop.
