Well it really depends on how bad the toothache is. I have had some where it is just a mild irritation and then others that I am almost homicidal with. Yes real bad ones I agree no one can live with for long and the dentist does make out with that. Mild ones, they usually go away in a day or two and most can deal with that.

having sensitive teeth, i always experience minor aches and pains, but that can be relieved by using a special kind of toothpaste.
if i can remember correctly, there's one member here who posted a discussion about the benefits of garlic in treating/relieving a toothache. the odor may be offensive, but i heard it really works.
better yet, take care of your teeth, brush regularly, avoid eating too much sweets.

I hate toothaches very much. I just had a wisdom tooth that absessed removed. It took three weeks to get into the oral surgon. WHY. I way so grateful to get that thing removed. Now I have a couple teeth that need root canals and crowns. Only problem is I dont have the money to get it done. That is the reason dentists are rich, because they get their money right away. Now I should get off my soap box and put my son to bed.

I can.
I don't often get toothache. i can manage eating alot of ice cream and things because i have strong healthy teeth which aren't sensative to cold things.
When i do, it's normally something i can cope with unless for another reason i need to see a dentist. (most aren't excatly rich buddy)
