What are those Stars above our Images???

I've been there for two months now and I observe that on every image of such person that i see, i see stars above them and has ratings in it. I was wondering, what are they? if that's a good thing, how do I get one of them here at mylot? is that important to have additional earnings here? Need Info on this people, thanks.

The stars indicate your reputation here at myLot. When members give you pluses (+) for your responses and/or new discussions, then you hava a great chance of getting a high star rating. You don't get to see your star rating until you get 100 points. Once you've reached 100, then you see your very first star. It doesn't exactly point to earnings. For example, it doesn't mean that someone with a 10-star earns higher compared to someone with a 7-star. It could be possible that a person has a 10 because his/her friends keep on putting (+) on his/her discussions or responses, or choosing his/her discussion as "best response". It could also be true that someone with a 10-star earns high because he/she truly deserves the (+) due to quality discussions, not because of friends. Thus, the star rating mainly indicates reputation among members, not exactly earnings. Welcome to myLot!
